22nd March 2013 - Orlando to Miami
Today will be quick. We left this morning and stopped quickly at Downtown Disney to buy a couple of photo frames that we can put 1 of the many many photos in it for each of the kids. We continued on and drove down to Miami.
We planned on staying in a Homewood Suites close to the Miami Airport for 4 nights. We checked in and then went to the room. The double beds didn't look like full double beds. I had been looking at possibly staying in Downtown Miami for the 4 days but it was always unavailable. As we had checked in already, i looked to see if anything was available for the 3 nights. There was a 2 Queen Bed room that would normally be $375 or thereabouts a night, but using Hilton HHonor reward points it was 30,000 points a night. I had 87000 points from my previous stays. So... I booked that and it cost me $29 to but the 3000 required points to complete the stay and organised to check out of this hotel tomorrow morning.
This hotel is also about 500 metres away from American Airlines arena where Renee and Charli will go tomorrow night for their Alicia Keys concert, and where the 4 of us will go to see the Miami Heat hopefully extend their 25 game winning streak.
We went for a drive for tea and ended up eating at The Cheesecake Factory. After tea we went for a drive down towards Miami Beach for a look. As were driving we were caught in traffic as they had a huge music festival. Actually, i think the better word for it would be Rave. It was huge!! The sound and volume of the whole thing was amazing. Just driving past it you could feel the bass shaking the car.
After that we drove along Ocean Drive and then came back to the hotel. The kids went to sleep easily, ready for a day of fun tomorrow. Not sure what we are doing yet, but its 29 degrees tomorrow so maybe a relaxing day and visit to the beach...
