19th March 2013 - Tampa
Todays blog will be quick. I probably won't put on any photos. We'll see I guess.
I mentioned yesterday about it being a really big day, and how it would be good if Kobe would sleep in. In conversations with him when we mentioned it, he said "OK". We lived in hope...
7:10am
BING! Kobe is awake. This kid is like clockwork!
Our plans today were pretty simple. We had tickets to see a spring training baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. Alex Rodriguez has been injured forever and we knew he wasn't playing, and we hoped that Derek Jetter would play as he had played the last 2 game for the Yankees. I almost sound like i know what i'm talking about. But... thats about as much as i know.
We realised this morning that we were short on shorts for Kobe, so before we left for Tampa were the baseball was, we headed off to the Outlet Mall to find some more shorts for Kobe. I think Renee just makes this kind of stuff up as an excuse to get the shops :-) We bought some clothes for Kobe, and a couple of T-Shirts from Nike for me. 2 for $25, and we had a $5 gift card for doing a survey when i was over here for work. As always, we found a pair of Jordan shoes for Kobe. He seems to like them :-)
After the shopping we headed to the baseball. The game started at 1:05pm so we planned on giving the kids lunch at the stadium. In short, that meant nachos and hotdogs :-) About 10 minutes from the field we spoke to Kobe and he sounded alert and responsive. A few minutes later he was asleep. I love the fact he can and does fall asleep anywhere, but today was a great a time.
While asleep, we got him out of the car, and walked what im guessing was over a kilometre with him to enter that stadium and sit down. Renee walked the first half with him, and then we swapped him over to me. People would joke its not a good sign when you don't even see the first innings, and several remarked that it would be them like that by the end of the game. We sat down, and we were directly in the sun, and it was HOT! Charli and I went and got stuff for lunch, and we sat and enjoyed the baseball.
During the game, only probably about 30 minutes after we arrived, Kobe awake. It must be a strange thing to go to sleep in the car, and then awake to find yourself surrounded by thousands of people cheering and screaming and watching a game of baseball. He didn't show any signs of surprise though. I guess its become fairly normal for him :-)
We ended up leaving before the end of the game everyone was just boiling. We went pass the merchandise on the way out and got Charli a baseball hat. It was pink with little love hearts, and had a P on the front. People might think its for Princess or something similar, but its for Phillies. She liked it too which is good.
We left, and on the way home discussed what we were going to do with one of our accomodation days between Orlando and Miami. Its about 3 and a half hours between the 2, and we planned on staying in Melbourne Florida for a night to break it up. We decided we would stay in Disneyworld an extra night, and go to an extra theme park while we are here.
We got back to the hotel, and I went and made the changes to our travel plans. Fairly easy, but its not surprising when they are getting more money out of us. Although, our accomodation cost here was less than what it would have been in Melbourne Florida. I'm sure it will end up costing us more though...
After that Renee went and started the laundry, while i got the kids ready and we went to have a swim which was next to the laundry room. A storm was approaching so they closed the pool off. We went and got tea instead, and by the time we finished that the storm had passed and the pool was open again. We swam, and Renee finished the washing. After that we wandered around the hotel looking at the Cars and Lion King things that around the resort.
After a bath, it was time for bed. They didn't get into bed until about 9:30, but went straight off to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be another big day... Epcot. Hopefully tomorrow morning we can get a bit of asleep in. By sleep in I mean until at least 7:30am. Wish us luck....
