11th March 2013 - San Antonio (Seaworld)
Today was the day we went to Seaworld. It's something Renee has been looking forward to the whole trip as she has wanted to see the Killer Whales.
I dont think i mentioned before, but our stroller passed away just as we were about to leave LA. It had previously been repaired, but the flight to LA must have been too much for it. I'm sure the maids in LA didn't really appreciate the broken stroller being left in the room. Oops.
Anyway.. On the way we wanted to get a new one. We looked up Toys R Us and found a location not far from Seaworld. We drove there and found the store. Only 1 problem. It wasn't actually finished and open yet. Next to it was a Target so i had a look there. They sold the one we wanted, but they were out of stock. They were able to look up stock levels at other stores and found a store 3 minutes away that had them in stock. We drove there, and it was a Target Superstore apprently. I walked in, and they weren't kidding. That place was huge!! It was a Target with a pharmacy and supermarket built it. Impressive. They had the stroller so we were able to purchase it there.
We continued to Seaworld and entered the park. The first thing we did was head to the Killer Whale show. We were there pretty early so we almost had choice of seats. Renee was parking the new stroller, so i chose some seats close to the front. They were towards the back of the 'Splashzone'. How wet could people get?? Well... I was thinking it would be the Whales landing in the water that caused people to get wet. I was wrong. They actually during the show use there fins for the sole purpose of splashing people in the audience. People were getting saturated. Luckily, we stayed dry.
As the whales began jumping out of the water, Charli turned to us and said 'Thats just like the picture at Grandma and Grandpas'. This girl is on the ball. There is a photo in the lounge room there of 2 whales jumping out of the water.
After that we wandered a little more and found a ride that was suitable for all of us to go on. The kids were fine to go on nearly everything, the trouble was getting Renee to agree to go on the 'scary' rides :-) Im getting death stares as i right this. What i mean to write is, Renee is perfect and could not have been more accomodating or nice.
Seriously though, it seemed a good ride for Charli and Kobe to go on and there was again a chance of getting wet. The first thing that happened was we went down and Charli got pretty wet. We all laughed. I can't remember the exact words, but Charli didn't really find it funny that it was her getting wet. Both kids enjoyed the ride.
We got a quick lunch, and then layed Kobe back in the stroller so he could get his sleep. While this was happening, we checked out the Penguins. Kobe went off to sleep so Charli and Renee went to see the Sea Lions show. I walked with Kobe asleep in the stroller and went to check out the Dolphins. They dont have a performance, but at select times during the day have dolphin feeding.
Once Kobe was awake, we wandered back to the dolphins to see about feeding. It was still 40 minutes until feeding started and the line was huge!! We decided it wasn't worth queueing up for. We took the kids to the Sesame Street section were they had a playground and other small kids rides.
After that it was about 30 minutes after the dolphin feeding started so thought we would head back and see how the queue was going fully expecting the dolphin feeding to be finished. We got there, and the queue was still there and moving. We decided we would take a chance and join the line.
Eventually we got into the dolphin feeding section, and once we walked through they roped it off and said dolphin feeding for the day was finished. There were people behind us and they all missed out. We were the lucky last ones. We bought 2 trays of food (the maximum) for the dolphins and we got to feed them. Kobe was too impressed by them, so Charli and Renee got to feed them. Both of them really enjoyed it.
After that we left and had a quick tea on the way to the hotel. Once there, Renee looked after the kids, while I left and headed the AT&T Centre which was about 15 minutes away to see my 3rd NBA match between Oklhaoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs. For those playing along at home, this is the 3rd game i have seen and all have been to see Oklahoma City Thunder. It wasn't planned this way, its just how things worked out. It's a good thing they are one of best teams in the leagues.
So while I was out seeing the NBA and enjoying myself, Renee was at home with the kids, bathing them, getting them ready for bed, and putting them to sleep.
