After a big day of driving, I was happy to plan a day which did not require us to be in the car at all.
We woke up this morning and looked at the clock. Actually... I didn't so much wake up, as I was woken up. We have 2 double beds in our room and a fold out couch. The fold out couch isn't that good, so we have been sleeping in the same bed as the kids. We put them to bed at night, and then we go to the other room for the remainder of the night and go to bed to sleep. Last night I slept in Charli's bed. She woke up this morning, rolled over and gave me a kiss. I guess there are worse ways to be woken up :-)
The clock said 7am, but our phones said 8am. We worked out at breakfast that daylight savings was the cause of the hour difference. The problem I think was everyone else stumbled across the same thing, so everyone was late to breakfast and everyone arrived at the same time so it was super busy. I say super busy, but as it was our first morning for breakfast, i really don't have anything to compare it to.
After breakfast, we walked out our hotel door, and was straight onto the San Antonio Riverwalk. Around Downtown San Antonio is a river that boats go through and you can walk along. We walked along it and walked up to the shopping mall. Every shopping mall has access by taxi boats right?? Once there we had a tour on a boat. Kobe and Charli had been talking about the boats from the second we started walking along the river.

After the boat cruise, we wandered back down the river and had a tradional Mexican lunch at Casa Rio which is one of the places with the colored umbrellas out the front in the photos above. There was a bridge close to where we were having lunch so I took a photo looking back towards where Renee and the kids were seated. If you look closely at the first photo below, the people under the red umbrella in the bottom right hard corner might look familiar.

After lunch we wandered back to the hotel room and Kobe went to sleep in his bed. First day sleep in a while where has fallen asleep in his bed. While he slept Renee went and did a bit shopping. Apparently she went to the biggest Spend Less Shoes she has ever been. Sounds fun hey? Hmmmmm.
Once Kobe was awake, and Renee was back from shopping, we went for another walk. This time we walked to Hemisphere Park. First thing we did there was let the kids have a play in the playground.

After the park, we wandered across to the 'Tower of America'. The tall tower (obviously) that is in the first photo above. We got tickets to the observation deck and had a look around.

While we were up the top, we found a machine. We hadn't seen it before, but Charli was interested. Kobe, didn't like the look of it. Actually... he kept saying 'thats scary'. The machine?? Zultar :-)

It's probably a good thing Kobe didn't want to go anywhere near it. I've seen the movie 'Big'. The last thing we need is Kobe making a wish to be bigger or something like that. The kid is already a monster, we don't need him growing anymore. I actually think he has grown in the last couple of weeks. He seems to be looking slimmer and I think its because he has grown. He is really starting to look like a boy.
After this, we wandered back along the river and looked for somewhere for tea. We ended up deciding on a place called 'Lone Star Cafe'. It was overlooking the river and served more Texas style food. I had New Braunfels Pork Ribs (New Braunfels is a place about 50km out of San Antonio) and Renee had a Smokey BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Tasty.
After tea we headed back to hotel and had a swim in the pool, which is on the roof (11th floor). The kids enjoyed their swim, and we tried to get some nice photos in front of the tower. It was getting a bit dark so they ended up being a bit blurry. You can also see the view we have from the hotel roof.

After swimming, it was time for a bath and bed. Kids went off to sleep easily and we sat and watched The Mentalist on tv. Strange to see ads in it, as normally everytime we watch it we have downloaded it and there are no ads.
I don't think i mentioned earlier, but we left Charli's dog toy in LA when we checked out. Charli was super excited coming to San Antonio as that is where we had the hotel send Doggy too. We arrived and picked him up. When i was lying in bed last night when the kids where going to sleep, Charli was tickle pink to have him. She would just start laughing and say 'Puppy just licked me.... He licked me again'. I dont think we will ever forget him again.
Tomorrow we are off to Seaworld. Its another one of those things where i'm not sure who will get more enjoyment out of it... Renee, or the kids.
Tomorrow night there is an NBA game here. It's a game i want to go to, so not sure whether all 4 of us will get tickets and go, whether I will get a single ticket and go, or whether i just won't go. Tune in tomorrow to find out the exciting answer.
