17th March 2013 - Tallahassee to Orlando (Disneyworld)
Today was a relatively short driving day. We left Tallahassee this morning and started towards Orlando. We pretty much drove straight through without any major stops. We did stop briefly to get lunch at 'Steak and Shake'. I had a double cheeseburger with a 'Peanut Buttercup Shake', and Renee had a Cheeseburger with a 'Cookie Dough Shake'. These were by far the best hamburger we have had from a takeaway place while we have been here, and the shakes were a nice change from Coca Cola :-)
On the way we saw many billboards, and one was for an adult entertainment place called 'Cafe Risque'. They advertised that the girls got totally naked, were open 24 hours, and had room for trucks to be parked. Sounds classy. Not sure whether or not the 'Cafe' part is accurate and they serve food. I'm not game enough to google it....
We stopped in Orlando briefly at a shop called 'Crazy 8' which sells kids clothes. I had been there when I was over for work and thought Renee would like it. Not surprisingly, she did not walk out empty handed.
We continued on and drove down International Drive. Lots of restaurants and entertainment to be had down that street. After that, we continued on the final 15 minutes of our drive to.... Disneyworld!
We checked into our hotel/resort, which was pretty much the cheapest Disneyworld Resort property you could get. It is a tiny room, with 2 double beds, a sink, and a bathroom. That is it.
We weren't in the room long before we set off for Downtown Disney. We wanted to buy Charli a princess dress while we were here. We got there, and finally found a park. It was busy because where we were looking to park was the area where they were celebrating St Patricks Day. Once again, we got free beads.
We went to World of Disney, and got Charli a Rapunzel dress, and got autograph books for both the kids. After that, we set off for our first tea reservation.... Chef Mickeys :-)
Charli loved it. Happily met all the characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald) and got photos taken with each. Kobe wasn't so happy. He was happy to look at them, but didn't really want to go near any of them. We thought he was going to be fine with Mickey as he seemed happy when Mickey was approaching. Mickey came near him... Kobe threw his Mickey that he sleeps with at him, and then pretty much went into hiding mode. Hiding Mode involves him cuddling into one of us, and screaming :-)
In the end, it was a good night. We all enjoyed it, even if Kobe wasn't so happy to get close to the characters. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully over the next couple of days he will learn that they aren't that scary, and he will pose and get a good photo with some of them. Otherwise... Its going to be his Santa photo all over again.
