20th March 2013 - Disneyworld (Epcot)

Today was the day we planned going to Epcot. We hoped for a sleepin for the kids as they have been going to bed later than normal, but still getting up at a normal time. At about 7:05am this morning....

BING... Kobe was awake.

He at least gets the sleep during the middle of the day so he can kinda catchup on lost sleep then. Charli never sleeps during the day anymore unless she is sick. So... We kept Kobe quiet and Charli got to sleep just over an hour longer.

We got ready and opened the door to leave our room, when we noticed it was raining, We stood there for a little bit working out what to do, and then walked back into the room. At that point Kobe wanted to go, so as the door was closing, he put his hand in there to try and stop it. Well... he stopped it, but he wasnt a happy boy for a while. We decided to go to the park as the forecast still looked ok, and we had paid for it so wasn't much we could do.

We were at the park about 9:15am. We walked in the door and saw Daisy and Goofy, and had the realisation that we had left the kids autograph books at home. Luckily, we were only about 10 minutes away from our hotel, and had driven. Renee did a little bit of the park, and i took about half an hour returning back to get the autograph books.

Epcot is very different to Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is mainly for kids with kids attractions. Epcot is like the world in one park. Lots of areas are broken up into different countries, and their section has buildings, food, sound, entertainment etc that is from that country. It wasn't until mid afternoon that we did our first ride. Up until that point, it had been character meetings, food, exploring, etc. Kobe had been a lot better with most of the characters today so we were happy to have some photos of both of them, rather than what happened at the previous park where it appeared by looking at the photos that we only had 1 child. So because i know how interested you are... here are some photos of the kids meeting the characters.

We got the kids lunch in the Mexican section and they had Nachos and Quesadillas. It was time for Kobe to go to sleep so we lay him back in the stroller and in walking from the Mexican section to the Morrocon, he fell asleep. Right as we were walking through the American section, a street parade band started to play and drum. He didn't even move :-)

Renee and I in the Morrocon section had our lunch... a Chicken and rice thing, and a wrap thing. Super use of the word 'thing' Col. Bravo.

As Kobe was asleep we went walking, and Charli met and had photos taken with Pooh and Tigger. After she had her photo Tigger was in a playful mood. He looked into the stroller and pretended to frighten and scare him. No response from Kobe. So Tigger posed with him, and then Pooh came over too.

Once Kobe was awake, we started to go on rides and see a few things. One of the things we did was Finding Nemo ride. Charli at Kinder is in a group called 'The Hammerhead Sharks' so she was very excited when she could get a photo with the hammerhead shark out of Finding Nemo. Then it was time for a rest and Sundaes.

Oh well.. we had a good run

It was now getting close to tea time, and we had a reservation in Norway for another princess tea. Everything at Disney for Kobe is pretty much free as he is under 3. We went into tea and normally an under
3 would be free but would have to share from mum or dads plate. They knew he was an infant, but gave him the same thing as Charli. We expected this to happen, and expected to have to pay for it too. At the end, they brought out the receipt and we went to pay, and they realised what had happened. They assumed he was over 3 so expected him to be eating a kids meal, but they never mentioned he would be charged, so they gave it to us for free. A nice little saving considering we were fully expecting to pay. At the tea tonight was Arial, Belle, Snow White, and Aurora. Kobe wasn't very interested in any of the princesses, except Arial. He was happy to talk to her and get a photo with her. Odd little boy :-)

After tea Charli and I went on the Fast Track which was a car thrill ride. He loved it! We got off and she was jumping around saying she wanted to do it again. We had the fast passes, so we did. When it got to full speed she was just beaming. She really does seem to enjoy these kind of rides.

We were debating staying for the fireworks as tomorrow we are going to another park (Hollywood Studios) and had to decide between staying and seeing the fireworks, or leaving and trying to get them more sleep so they would hopefully stay happy tomorrow. We decided to see the fireworks as were there, but an annoucement came on saying they were delayed for technical reasons. We decided to leave. As we were close to our car, they started. Maybe we will see the fireworks tomorrow.

In Epcot at the moment, they have a Flower and Garden Festival and there is blooming flowers everywhere. Its very impressive. While it may not be of interest, here are some photos of the park and some of the gardens. And by some, i mean 21 :-)
