24th March 2013 - Miami
Today was always going to be a fairly quiet day.
We started off by trying to get everyone to sleep in. 7am comes... and BING. Kobe is awake. This kid is like clockwork. We really needed Charli to sleep in, and as our room only has 2 queen beds in it, we really needed to be smart and try and keep Kobe quiet. In the end, Charli slept till about 9am which meant she actually got a decent amount of sleep.
When she got up, she really didn't mention much about the concert. The only sign of disappointment was when she was telling Kobe she didn't get to see all the songs because she was too tired. Other than that, she said she had a good time. Maybe mum and dad over reacted a little. Oh well.. I'm sure it wont be the only time.
After breakfast, we headed to Miami Beach. We went for a walk along the path at the front of the beach, and then cut onto the beach. It was really windy, and it was blowing the sand along the beach. Unfortunately, the sand wasn't like out sand, it seem to contain lots of broken sea shells, so when the wind blew the sand, sometimes that would contain small bits of shell and wouldn't exactly be nice.
We walked down to the water, and then walked with our feet in water along the beach for a while. We then cut back to the street and the kids had a chance to play on the playground there. They enjoyed running around and having a play.
Once we left, we drove to a Walmart as we needed to replace a pair of the kids headphones that had broken. Even if they are only used for the flight home, it will be money well spent. $15 to help keep the kids quiet on the plane will be the best money we have spent on our holiday.
On the way to Walmart we stopped at a Krispy Kreme. It was huge! It has a parking lot next to it and had about 10-12 Krispy Kreme trucks in it. It must have been a distribution center or something along those lines. In the store you could look in the window and see all the donuts being made and glazed. The kids found this fascinating. I joked it was the highlight of our trip so far. Then Charli repeated it. I was joking... Charli... i'm not so sure :-)
After Walmart we drove home, moved a sleeping Kobe from the car into the hotel and had a quiet afternoon in the hotel.
We started packing the suitcases ready for our flight in a couple of days back to LA. By we packed, i really mean Renee packed.
At about 5pm we left and headed to the arena for the Miami Heat basketball game. We heard Dwayne Wade wasn't playing in the game due to a sore knee, but that didn't really matter as long as LeBron James was playing. We arrived and had tea there. The teams came out for the warmups, and everyone we were expecting to see was there..... except LeBron James. At this point we were a little worried. After a few minutes he ran out himself. We all breathed a sigh of relief. And by we, i really mean me :-)
Miami ran away with the game in the end, but it was really entertaining. Charli surprisingly really got into the game. She clapped and cheered, danced at timeouts etc and never got bored through the whole game. Kobe on the other hand, couldn't sit still. He had done fairly well at the other games, but this one he just didn't want to sit and watch. He saw bits and pieces, but spent more time moving about.
After the game, we came back and gave them a bath, and then put them to bed. Interestingly, they were in bed tonight ready to go to sleep, before Alicia was even on the stage the night before.
Hopefully the kids have a good sleep in tomorrow. I seem to be saying this nearly every day :-)
I was googling tonight and found something that i think Renee will really enjoy tomorrow. I will just need to confirm in the morning whether we can do it. If so... It will be worth reading about tomorrow :-)
