5th March 2013 - OKC

So today was our first full day in a place where we had a car. After a nice breakfast, where Charli discovered she likes Cheerios and Kobe had a freshly cooked waffle, it was time to get movin. The first thing we did was go shopping to buy some groceries etc that we will need for the next 3 weeks. Where do you go for groceries?? Walmart of course. It would also be the answer to where would you get a prescription filled, where would i buy my sporting goods, where would i get an Ipad, where would i buy plants for my garden. It has nearly everything you could possibly imagine, except guns (not at the one we went too anyway).

The Trolleys at Walmart

By this time it was almost time for Kobe to have a sleep. After a quick lunch at McDonalds we were back home. The Happy Meals at McDonalds here have chips and apple pieces so that is handy. Now that we have been to the supermarket, we can start to bring sandwiches with us for the kids to eat. Will be good to get them eating things that aren't always bad for you.

Upon Kobe awaking from his sleep, it was time to go and see Wayne. For those playing along at home, Wayne is a friend who decided to book flights over at the same time we did as they were cheap! This is the one night he was in OKC and it was organised around the NBA. We all squeezed into the car. Well... We didn't all squeeze into the car. Renee and I comfortably sat in the car, while Wayne squeezed between the 2 car seats in the back. I think the kids enjoyed the company as they didn't stop talking the whole time. Wayne now has a full understanding of My Little Pony and who they all are. Thanks Charli Belle :-)

Once in the car, we drove to an Outlet Mall and did a bit of shopping. After that was a quick trip to Walmart as Wayne hadn't seen it before, followed by a brief trip to a sporting store. Now this one did have guns and a lot of camouflage gear

Charli & Kobe might not be big shopping fans....
But they do enjoy their rides!

Once this was complete, we went out for tea. If anyone has heard me talking lately about the trip, the TV show Man vs Food gets mentioned a lot. I have watched the episodes to all the places we are going throughout our trip and have planned numerous stops along the way to eat some of the things shown in the show. This is the first.

Cattlemens Steakhouse is a steakhouse (obviously) that is over 100 years old. Where we sat was in a room that was opened in 1910 (2 years before the Titanic sunk according to the waitress working for her tip). The area its in the Stockyard City. Its the world's largest stocker and feeder cattle market. The steak there is supposed to be awesome, so we thought we should give it a try. To see the segment from Man Vs Food follow this link. I had the Presential T-Bone, and Renee the Sirloin. Charli had a corn dog, and Kobe some chicken strips.

After tea we drove home, and Wayne and I left Renee and the kids in the hotel room and went off to see the Los Angeles Lakers play the Oklahoma City Thunder. They sure know how to put on a show. The Thunder won fairly easily, but still a good game to go to. Handy that the arena was less than 500 metres from the hotel. Its almost as if it was organised that way... :-)

At the end of the game, we came back to the hotel and went to our respective rooms. Wayne was flying out in under 5 hours so needed his sleep. I went back to my hotel room to Sleep? Nope. It's Blog time :-)
